Hi my name is Chanelle and I’m thrilled to be an osteopath at Oak Tree Osteopathy! I was inspired to become an osteopath as it perfectly combines my two great passions; working with the incredible human body, and helping people in pain. I have always been fascinated by the resilience of the human body, and enjoy surprising my patients with their ability to heal and adapt under the right guidance.
I enjoy treating people of all ages and backgrounds, from athletes to grandparents and everything in between. I like to use a big-picture approach to identify the factors contributing to pain for my patients and create a set of individualised goals to work towards. I use osteopathic manual therapy, rehabilitation exercises, and lifestyle education to help my patients achieve these goals. I take both gentle or firm approaches to treatment depending on the issue at hand, and use both dry needling and myofascial flame cupping. These can be beneficial for the treatment of sports-related injuries as well as arthritis.
While I happily treat acute pain, I have a particular interest in the management of chronic pain. This interest has led me to complete a thesis on the effect of chronic conditions on skeletal muscle health. Having experienced it myself, I particularly enjoy helping my patients through the challenges of chronic headaches, migraines, and neck pain. When it comes to chronic pain, it often takes a team to move a mountain! I am an active member of any health care team and enjoy working with GPs, specialists, PTs, dieticians, and more to ensure the best care for our patients.
When I’m not treating patients, you’ll find me working part-time at RMIT University and drinking fantastic coffee all over Melbourne!
